How We Met.
Welcome, we are Alex and Cory, two world explorers in search of new and exciting adventures. Join us as we journey through different parts of the world, immersing ourselves in the great outdoors and experiencing new cultures.
Our adventure began back in 2010 when we met on the island of Newfoundland, Canada. We bonded over our shared love for outdoor activities and worked together guiding rafting, caving, climbing and hiking tours. Our first trip abroad together was a month-long backpacking excursion through Central America, which solidified our desire to travel the world together.
After that, we decided to move out West to snowboard in Nelson, British Columbia for a full winter. It was an incredible experience, but we knew we needed to save money to continue our adventure-filled lifestyle. So, we moved to Calgary, Alberta, where we worked hard and saved money for our next big trip.
Our goal was to set off on a 9-month-long backpacking trip around the world, which we documented with videos. We checked off bucket-list places like Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, India, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
Coming back home was difficult, but we settled back in Newfoundland, drawn to its wilderness and pristine land. We struggled to find a way to keeping traveling while also having a place for all of our outdoor gear like climbing equipment, camping gear, and surfboards.
Why Buy A Sailboat?
We considered buying a bus or starting a homestead but ultimately decided on buying a sailboat. After searching for the perfect vessel on the island of Newfoundland and coming up empty, we found our sailboat on Lake Erie in Ontario. We spent our first summer just learning as much as we could about refitting, fiberglass, how to sail... Basically we had to learn everything from scratch but after a year we were ready to start our long journey down the East coast of the US.
Finally making it to the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas and spending 3 seasons exploring some of the 700 islands and cays to choose from.
We're excited for you to join us on our journey as we discover new places and embark on new adventures. Follow along as we navigate the open seas and explore the beauty of our incredible world.
Avid world traveler and passionate about the outdoors it all begun in my mom's belly. I was born and raised in Quebec, Canada, but my feet brought me all over the world at a young age. From North to Central to South America, from Asia to Oceania and Europe. My wanderlust isn't ever fully satisfied.
After moving out of my parents' place I have called Newfoundland, British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario my homes. Since I met Cory the exploring hasn't stopped and we've kept pushing each others boundaries. Together we have been trekking, snowboarding, rock climbing, surfing, kayaking and snorkeling. With a newfound passion for sailing we took to the Seven Seas in hopes of visiting the world at our own pace. Life is about the journey not the end. Plus with a baby onboard and a new one just around the corner it has open our eyes to a different pace and a new look on life.
Alex
Cory
I have an insatiable thirst for exploring my own limitations and pursuing my passions. I have a deep love for board and adventure sports, especially those that take place in nature. My journey has led me to spend extended periods of time on both the east and west coasts of Canada, including a season as a raft guide in Kananaskis, Alberta and a long-term surfing trip to Tofino, British Columbia. Despite limited financial resources, I went back to work and eventually met Alex, who was also guiding in Newfoundland.
This was a defining moment in my life, leading to a series of exciting adventures, like a month in Central America, snowboarding in Nelson, BC, and a 9-month trip around the world. Alex and I then bought a sailboat and spent three years exploring the Bahamas together. Having our daughter Coral with us has added a new level of joy to our adventures, and we can't wait to see what other experiences the future holds for our family.
There's not a little girl more curious than Coral. She watches your every move and we can't hide anything from her. She already sailed to a few countries before being born in Quebec, Canada. Life on land was short because soon after getting her passport we set sail for the Bahamas with her.
She tasted pretty much every beach we stepped on, learned to crawl, stand up and walk on a moving sailboat and was seasick more than once. Coral keeps pushing her limits every day and wants to help with everything. But beware she is strong minded and stubborn which makes her the perfect little one-year old sailor.
