July 1st 2017 is the big Canada 150th birthday that everyone has been talking about for months now. So Cory and I though we’d share the best of each province. Nevertheless Canada is a massive country with so much to offer from the East Coast to the West coast. It’s rich geography has something different to offer everyone from beaches to mountains, deserts to glaciers or tundra to rain forest. So without further ado here’s Wildly Intrepid’s best of each province for Canada 150th. Well at least a few of the best.
Canada 150th best of each province
#1 Newfoundland and Labrador
The Blow Me Down mountains which are located on the West Coast near Corner Brook are one of the four ophiolites, oeanic crust which turns orange. Alex’s first 5 day solo trek was here.
#2 Nova Scotia
Cape Breton Highlands National Park on the eastern part of Nova Scotia is a must with its hiking trails and winding roads. Plus the coastline is wonderful.
#3 New Brunswick
The Bay of Fundy is home to the world’s highest tides and Hopewell Rocks Park is mesmerizing. At low tide you can walk below the flowers pots, a rock formation which was eroded by the ocean. Then, at high tide come back to sea kayak up to an extra 56 feet up.
#4 Prince Edward Island
This island is so small but has a lot of adventures to offer. We really liked Covehead Point in Greenwich National Park with its sand dunes and eagles flying around.
#5 Québec
The Chic-Chocs mountains in the Gaspésie have so much to offer from day hiking to multi-day trekking as well as snowboarding and many other winter sports.
#6 Ontario
The Great Lakes are an impressive place to camp  while listening to the rolling waves. One could almost think that you are looking out at sea although they contain 21% of the world’s fresh water supply, the second largest on Earth.
#7 Manitoba
Minnedosa is a quaint little community which has a small herd of bison, good camping and beautiful scenery. The flat landscapes offers stunning sunsets.
#8 Saskatchewan
Following Highway 16 or Yellowhead highway you will drive by Quill lake which has some unusual boats and nice prairie scenery.
#9 Alberta
Rock climbing around Grassi Lakes near Canmore. There are so many routes with a rich outdoor community and great food.
#10 British Columbia
That’s a tough one but the unanimous decision is the snowboarding in Nelson. Both Whitewater Ski Resort and the backcountry surrounding it were hidden gems of powder and fun.
#11 Northern Territories
Unfortunately we haven’t had the opportunity to travel that far North. If you have suggestions please share them with us. But my bucket list includes canoeing the Nahanni river in the Northwest Territories, hiking through Kluane National Park and watching the northern lights in Nunavut.
In conclusion those are some of our favorite spots for Canada 150th but this country is way too big to restrict to a post. So get out there and live your own adventure.
